Join us at Trestle Arts Base for a symposium bringing together the last two years of our Create, Speak, Thrive (CST): Bringing Words To Life project. CST is a research project exploring creative approaches to speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) using drama and storytelling techniques to develop a universal approach to language learning in primaries and providing teachers with new creative pedagogies.
Create, Speak, Thrive - Bringing Words To Life. Year One Sharing
This film was created for the online event reflecting on the learning from year 1 and looking ahead into year 2.
We were delighted to be awarded Paul Hamlyn Foundation funding from the 5th round of The Teacher Development Fund, which aims to enable teachers and school leaders to develop their skills, knowledge and experience to embed learning through the arts in the primary curriculum.
We'll welcome CPDL and sharing from our partners the University of Hertfordshire academic research team, seven school senior leads and teacher-researchers across Luton and Stevenage, our artist practitioners, SLCN specialist Charlotte Wood and the Royal Opera House.
CPDL training will include practical SLCN, drama and storytelling tips & quick techniques usable cross-curriculum/subject wide that teachers will be able to implement in their classrooms straight away. We’ll also cover case studies on pupil outcomes alongside teacher upskilling, leadership and multidisciplinary working.
This sharing event is open to the public and we welcome cross platform professionals and industries to join us, including senior leads, teachers, local schools and governors, local organisations, educators, creatives, researchers and academics. There will be networking opportunities throughout the day where you’ll be able to speak to the Trestle CST team, our senior leads, teachers, artists and partners on the project.
