I am a new artist, living and working in St Albans.
I recently had a studio residency at Collective Gallery, in the centre of St Albans.
Let me tell you, this came as a welcome relief, having spent so much time in isolation through lockdown!
My current work is a constant exploration for describing the energy and flow I feel when I'm connected to the divine (life-force).
I would describe my current work as bold, colourful, and expressive.
My practice often sees me switch between abstract and representational depending on mood. Of the two, I prefer to explore the abstract in an intuitive way, and experimentation with mixed media and materials feels organic. Key to my artistic expression is never allowing a particular style or method to overwhelm or dominate my work. It is all about process rather than the outcome. I love making discoveries through mark making and colour and often with a variety of unconventional painting tools! Other influences are literature, (quotations), poetry, music, dance, theatre, film and the great outdoors.
In my spare time I like to read vast amounts on the subject of creativity for healing and transformation and hope to deliver some workshops during my time here at Trestle 13th-31st of March 2023.
I am a strong believer/advocate for art being accessible for everyone.
